Brian Cook, D.O.
“I know the fact that I have struggled with my own weight Really helps me relate to my patients”Work With Me
I want to be an ally, guide and good listener for my patients. I will provide the tools and map for my patients to reach a healthier weight. My staff and I will facilitate our patient’s effort to reach and maintain their goal weight. And hopefully we can provide a healthier mind and spirit along the way.
Dr Cook was born and raised in Oklahoma. He graduated from the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic medicine in 1994 and completed an Emergency Medicine residency in 1999 at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center.
Since that time Dr Cook has worked full time in an Emergency Department. He has treated everything from runny noses to gunshot wounds. Over the years, he have treated all the chronic medical conditions… heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, strokes to name a few. And one of the common pre-existing conditions that effects all of them is disease of obesity. This is a factor in a patient’s health that they can directly affect.
So, with his own weight issues, and the desire to help others with their disease, he explored the specialty of Obesity Medicine. Dr Cook has attended several conferences, and became convinced that this was the path he wanted to pursue in medicine.
Dr Cook met Dr. Allen Rader at one of these conferences and really liked his approach, experience and attitude towards the field of Obesity Medicine. Dr Rader has practiced over 17 years in this field and has the data to show that his approach is very effective. Dr Cook trained with Dr. Rader, Dr. Freshwater, and his other staff during a clerkship at his clinics, Idaho Weight Loss, in and around Boise, Idaho.
Dr Cook states “I will use his proven methods to help my patients along the road to a healthy weight”
Dr Cook lives in Yukon and has raised four kids in the community. “I love this area of Oklahoma. I enjoy spending time on the lakes, hunting, pickle ball, volleyball, wake boarding and snowboarding to name a few. My weight has affected the enjoyment of some of these, and since starting Dr. Rader’s program myself, I have lost over 15 lbs., and continue to lose”. Dr Cook feels this will improve his own participation in his passions. And hopefully, you will give him a chance to help improve your participation with your interests.
